Mud Fever in Horses: Causes, Treatment, and When to Call the Vet
Mud fever is an inflammatory skin condition that affects the lower limbs, most commonly around the pastern and heel area. It is caused by damage to the skin barrier, allowing bacteria (and sometimes fungi or mites) to enter and cause infection.
It often appears during wet winter months, but can occur at any time of year if conditions are right.

Loose Horses on Roads: A Growing Safety Concern
There has been a worrying rise in reports of loose horses on roads in our local area, and sadly some incidents have had tragic outcomes. Horses are naturally flight-driven animals. Once loose, especially near roads, they may react unpredictably to traffic, noise, or unfamiliar surroundings. A spooked, loose horse can travel significant distances and enter roads at speed, creating a high risk of serious injury or fatal collisions.
