Pre-Purchase Examination Terms and Conditions
By instructing us to perform a pre purchase examination on a horse on your behalf, you agree to the below terms and conditions:

1. The standard examination is conducted in five stages, although the exact sequence of the examination may vary. If you do not wish to incur the expense of a full 5 stage examination of the horse as detailed in the explanatory memorandum in the notes provided by M N Mollon & Partners Ltd, a copy of which you have retained. You understand you wish to restrict the scope of your instructions to a limited examination involving only stages 1 and 2, as set out in the aforementioned notes. You acknowledge that prior to the examination the extent of this limited form of examination has been explained to yourself. You accept and understand that such limited examination may not reveal certain conditions which may have been discovered during the course of a full 5 stage examination.
2. Pre-Purchase Examination Disclaimer: You recognise that a pre-purchase examination offers an evaluation that reflects the horse's condition and health at a specific moment in time. This evaluation provides valuable insights based on the information available during the examination but may not encompass the complete history or account for potential changes in the horse's health, condition and behaviour over time. As such, you understand the inherent limitations of a pre-purchase examination and will use this assessment accordingly whilst considering the evolving nature of equine health and performance.
3. Certification Regarding Human Food Chain: You hereby certify, to the best of your knowledge, that the horse/s subject to this agreement shall not enter the human food chain.
4. Handling of Horses: You understand and acknowledge that you cannot hold or handle any horse for appointments or veterinary services. It is my responsibility to ensure that a capable and present handler is available during all procedures or examinations.
5. X-ray Survey: In the event of an X-ray survey being requested, you understand that the veterinary surgeon will require a reasonable amount of time to thoroughly study the images, analyse any findings, and provide their professional opinion.
6. Telephone Consultations and Purchase Decisions: You understand that M N Mollon & Partners Ltd generally do not offer telephone consultations following pre-purchase examinations. However, if such consultation is necessary, you recognise that it can be arranged only upon full payment for the pre-purchase examination. The attending veterinary surgeon shall exercise discretion in determining the appropriateness of the timing and availability for such telephone calls. You also acknowledge that any purchase decisions made following a verbal discussion with the attending veterinary surgeon prior to receiving a vetting certificate are solely your responsibility, M N Mollon & Partners Ltd Vets shall not be held liable for such decisions.
7. Payment Terms: Upon completion of the vetting process, you acknowledge that an invoice for the discussed fees will be generated. Payment shall be processed using the card details obtained either over the phone or via the Stripe payment link, prior to the vetting. All invoices will be emailed to you for record-keeping purposes. Subsequently, you shall receive the vetting certificate via email, with the understanding that this may take up to 3 working days.
8. Deposit and Cancellation Policy: You hereby agree to remit a £60 deposit, inclusive of VAT, using the card details provided over the phone or via the Stripe payment link. You understand that this deposit is nonrefundable in the event of appointment cancellation and acknowledge your liability for any additional costs incurred, such as fuel or day rates.
9. Further Treatment Requested By Vendor: For any further treatment requested by the vendor or third party, you understand that their authorisation alone is insufficient. A separate client form from the horse's owner or authorised representative is required before any treatment can be performed.
10. Authorisation for Investigation and Treatment: You hereby grant M N Mollon & Partners Ltd full authorisation to conduct thorough investigations and perform diagnostic procedures as well as any necessary or requested medical or surgical treatments, as deemed appropriate by the attending veterinary surgeon.
11. Assumption of Treatment Risks: You understand that any treatment may carry certain risks to the life of a horse. You acknowledge that no member of our staff shall be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from the treatment or any other aspect of the care provided.
12. Emergency Treatment Disclaimer: In the case of emergency treatment, you fully understand and acknowledge M N Mollon & Partners Ltd is bound by ethical and legal obligations to obtain a signed client form from the owner or authorised representative of the horse. Without the completion of the said form, you recognise that it may not be possible for the practice to proceed with any treatment during urgent situations.
13. You have read and understand the above points. We strongly advise to await the emailed vetting certificate before finalising any purchase or organising any transportation for the horse. If you would like to discuss the report once it has been emailed, please feel free to contact the practice. Please refer to the Notes On The Examination attached to your confirmation email which contains BEVA/RCVS guidelines which the practice routinely follows when performing pre purchase examinations. Please be advised to consider obtaining written warranty from the vendor as mentioned on the notes for purchaser attachment.
